Gists offer a great way to share snippets of code, but are also useful for embedding them into your website or blog! WordPress and Jekyll have this feature built in where all you need to do is paste the full gist link and it’ll be converted to an embedded version.
What’s nice about this embedded gist is that the styles of the syntax highlighting and the gist container itself are both themeable by css. I recently released this VSCode syntax theme and now it’s available for use in your embedded gists! Here is the css for it, simply put it into your stylesheet or include a link to in your head tag.
There will be a repo full of different gist syntax themes that I will be making, a new blog post will go up when that completes.
